It will all boil down to opinion but maybe it would enlighten some of the players preparing their music for the show. I have most of my tunes picked but still would be interested in seeing what some of the steel guitar fans with hundreds of miles and dollars invested in the convention would like in the way of music. That should take up the best part of an hour before we have to move on.
Louis convention Friday night and play around 25 minutes before I introduce Johnny Bush. On the other hand, we’ve all been to shows that end up running an hour or more behind schedule, and that’s not good for the audience or the players.
Subtract five or more minutes for setup and breakdown of each player and you find yourself watching the clock and hoping you can get everything in that you planned to play. My statement about trying to come up with tunes may have been a bit tongue-in-cheek, but with only 30 minute segments to work with, it’s harder to pick the tunes and build the momentum Bobby Boggs was referring to. I've been very impressed with those pickups. If all goes well, I’ll be bringing it to Dallas next year.
Louis convention this coming Labor Day weekend. I don’t accept live jobs in Nashville so I won’t know if it’s a keeper until after the St. Any more, I’m hesitant to say much about a guitar until I use it in a live situation. Randy Beavers put them in the guitar so maybe he could respond. I like the Zum and the pickups are Lawrence, possibly 710’s, but I’m not sure.
